Hello, I'm Teacher Charlotte

I specialize in teaching Singapore Math for students learning Math under the Singapore curriculum (Primary 1- Primary 6). I train students in mastering word problems by using model drawing methods and explain difficult Math questions in simpler, clearer ways of understanding. My students leave each lesson feeling clearer, more confident, and ready to conquer the challenges ahead.

My Story

Trust me when I say that I have never attended a single Math class outside of school, and that's because I grew up under my dad's tutelage. It all started when my Math exam scored dropped from 97 to 80 in Primary 2. My dad, proficient in Math and Physics, and an engineer by training, took it upon himself to impart to me every model drawing method he knew that would help me understand the challenging word problems that appeared in my school homework. I remember the days where he would sit with me at the kitchen table after dinner every night to ensure I understood as much as I was able to. Once, he even made me write out a list of consecutive numbers from 1 to 1000 when he realized that I had assumed the number after 100 was 200. With daily practice, I found myself nearing full marks the next term, and again in Primary 3 and 4..and by Primary 6, I graduated with an A*.

After entering Secondary school, my love for Math dwindled. I spent less time practicing Math and consequently, the concepts became less familiar to me. My confidence also dropped. I thought the era of the good-old-math-days had ended.

It was only until I became a Primary Math teacher in Thailand that I found myself recalling all those concepts that I once knew. I taught them as if they had never left me. Somehow, the experience teaching in the classrooms ignited the passion in me to make these Math concepts come to life as my dad once did for me. I saw myself as the students who sat in front of me in the classrooms as how I once was, under my dad's guidance. As a teacher, I preoccupied myself with thinking about how to make Math more fun for my students. After years of journeying with my students, I observed the areas that students needed practice in and created these worksheets, courses and lessons.

I look back at my Math journey. Its ups and downs have showed me that:
1) You need consistent practice to get Math concepts as part of your muscle memory. The more you practice Math questions, the easier it becomes.

2) Positive feelings can be associated with Math when you realize you can do it. Perhaps a worksheet, course or lesson on this website might inspire you in a positive way. Encouraging you on this journey ❤️
